In Millington
Feb. 10th, 2019 11:48 amYesterday Jacques had some birthday celebrations. First in the early afternoon he had some pinball playing out at The Retro in Millington. So I drove out to Millington and got lost not finding it for a second, first I drove past it then I pulled google back up and where it took me I was like, what the fuck is this I'm in the wrong place. But it was the right place. It's inside this antique mall and off to the side without any sign or anything so you really just have to know it's there and what's up and all. But after texting Jacques to find out what the fuck is going on, I found it. Pretty cool. Played some pinball and they have a few arcade games in the back. I did pretty good (for me) at Donkey Kong so that was nice. They didn't have a whole lot else, lots of driving games and shooting games. They had one weird multi-game thing that was half regular classics (Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man (they also have a standalone Ms. Pac Man), Galaga) and half these weird games I'd never heard of and I played a few of them and they were pretty terrible. There was this weird ski-ball basketball hybrid thing. I got two 100s the first time I played so that was sweet (then didn't get any the second time, boohoo). Anyway, fun playing some games and shit. Wandered around the antique mall a bit and I picked up a book: Memoirs of Hecate County by Edmund Wilson. Then back home to kill the time between then and his birthday dinner. I worked a little on music but didn't get anything recorded, trying to get the oscillators set up and tuned right and they were being a pain in the butt, but I think if I switch the mixer I was using things should be better. Then to dinner at Sakura. I had some noodles and sushi, couldn't remember the name of the one I was really wanting, the real desserty one with the cherry on top. Oh well. Oh, and yesterday Mary Beth made this cake with olives in it. It's pretty fucking amazing. It's like a fried skillet cake thing and it's sweet and savory and it tastes like cake and olives and it's pretty awesome. I am about to have some more of that!
