My Pipes Are Clean

Yesterday was a full day of Indie Memphis but the shorter of my full days. The first movie I saw was Grass, another Hong Shangsoo movie. It did some similar things as The Day After (even had some of the same main cast members) and it was good though The Day After was the better one. Next I saw the Southern Food & Music block (with shorts by Les Blank and Ava Lowrey, I'd seen two of the three Blank shorts but they're good and it was good to see 'em again). Next was Clara's Ghost, directed by Bridey Elliott and starring the whole Elliott family. It was really good. A nice blending of multiple genres. It was very funny but with lots of other stuff going on. There was a q&a afterwards with the whole Elliott family. It was really good and they're all funny. Of course Chris, but Bridey is also especially funny. Paula Niedert Elliott was really good in the movie and it seems like she's the one that barely acted before. Afterwards I had to walk across the Square (from the Studio on it to the Playhouse on it) for Cabin Boy! Oh my god it was so good! It's been a while since I've seen it and I liked it but I think I liked it even more this time around. Once again the whole family was there for the q&a afterwards. Actually it was moderated by Bridey (and this time naturally there was more focus on Chris, but the family asked questions and sometimes related stories and it was pretty awesome). Yeah, this q&a was one of the most delightful experiences of my life. Chris came out and opened with "so you just saw the movie that ended my career." There was quite a bit of insight to the movie and some questions about Get a Life and other things. It was actually one of the longer q&a's I've attended. Lots of good talks and such. He was pretty self-effacing but with a lot of gratitude over the revision the movie's been getting of late since it had been a black mark for so long. Okay, then there was work today. Sad 'cuz something I'd worked hard to get out on time today made it just in the nick of time...but then bugs were found in po review. So I have more work to do on it! Sadness!
