ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)
Got up to Crosstown for the John Cage rehearsal. We went through it with the conductor a couple times. My partner couldn't make it earlier so this time I was doing both "parts" (tuning and volume) by myself. Anyway. Had fun and all that. Mary Beth had come with me so when we were done we spent a little time around the Concourse until the concert started. We ate downstairs at Farm Burger and it was pretty good. Then we went and got some Mempops and wandered around a little bit. We listened to the John Cage lecture and it was pretty good. Then it was the concert and it was a nice program. They opened with the "big hit" 4'33". Next was 0'00" of which there are certain recordings that I absolutely love. This rendition was pretty good, but I didn't find their "disciplined action" produced as rich sounds as others but it was good. Next was "Child of Tree" and Jenny Davis was playing plants and that was really awesome. Then our huge group came out to play a bunch of radios for "Imaginary Landscape No. 4 (March No. 2)". It was cool though I was so caught up in the moment that I'm not exactly sure what it all sounded like. Last was Four6 and that was really good. All in all it was really awesome, didn't expect I'd get a chance to see a full program of John Cage's music performed here in town, and to actually have a small part in it was beyond wild. Chris and Amy and Jenny are really awesome for making this happen! Anyway, was super exhausted after it was over and we were back home so I crashed pretty readily. I have a little bit of doms from my labor yesterday. I definitely used some muscles I don't typically use. The back of my thigh is pretty sore, but not too bad!
