Fuckin' Rock and Fuckin' Roll
Aug. 30th, 2015 05:18 pmMary Beth and I went to Next Door yesterday, finally, and split a huge thing of nachos. The nachos were good, but they were kinda italian-inspired or something and they weren't as good as "traditional" nachos (though Mary Beth probably liked them more). Then we went to a show at Glitch. We got there too early so we went across the street to Muddy's Grindhouse, also finally. I mean, it's pretty similar to what they have at the other Muddy's (but closer to us!). Okay, so back to Glitch and David and Mark showed up as well. So it was cool hanging out with them and talking to David. Hadn't done so in forever. The two opening bands were from Montreal (and they shared two members). The first band was called Ursula and they were okay. At first it was kinda boring, just punk rock'n'roll. They had a few moments here and there maybe. In the middle they did this song that sounded a bit like Siouxsie and the Banshees and it was pretty good. Then maybe their rock got a little better towards the end. Overall okay, not terribly my thing. The next band was called Cheap Wig and they were fucking awesome. They were pretty noisy and the singer had an awesome scream. I got their shirt (though they only had cassettes for musical media). Last was Nots, who we'd come there to see. I'd heard some of their stuff and heard good things about them live but hadn't seen them live before. They were good. Ah. What else? Oh at some point during the show (during the second band, I think) someone set a painting on fire. It was right on the other side of the pillar I was standing next to so I didn't see any of it, but heard about it late (and saw the mark left on the painting later). Good thing we didn't all die a horrible, flaming death. After the show we walked down with Mark and David to Slider Inn for a bit. Today The Family Ghost practiced, getting ready for our set playing at Jack's album release show on the 18th. Kind've excited 'cuz we're finally switching it up and playing stuff we hadn't played lately. So if you've seen us recently (and are actually reading this) it will be differnt, yo. After practice we went with Jacques and Paul to LBOE. I hadn't been before but had recently read about The Luther (burger with doughnuts for buns and sausage mixed in and egg and stuff). So yeah, I got that shit and it was fucking awesome. The top doughnut was maple bacon. Good move. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Paul had this extra monitor that was riding around in his car he didn't really have a use for so he let me have it! Now I'm really gonna be an elite dude at work with three fuckin' screens, yeah!
