ateolf: (MEEEEEEERY CHRIIIIIIIISTMAS HAHAHAHA!!!!)
Yesterday was a pretty active day. I guess it helped make up for the fact that it was my only day off this week. Mary Beth and I watched Dawn of the Dead, which she had never seen before. She was a little disappointed by it. She's such a fan of Night of the Living Dead that she expected it to be as good or more like it. She didn't think it was bad, but it did not live up to her expectations. We went to Cash Savers as there's this beer gelato thing they apparently do every week. It was all really amazing. We got a couple pints and tasted a few samples. So good! Then we went to the Brooks to see Finding Fela, the new documentary. At first I was worried as it started to seem more about the musical, but my worries were abated and the use of the musical production's development helped offer something of a dramatic structure (also it didn't end up being invasive and overtaking the story of his actual life). And, to tell the truth, it also changed my stance on my willingness to a see a musical based on his life. Seems like it might not be bad after all, heh. Yeah, I thought the movie was really good. Glad I had the chance to see it (and do SOMETHING going on at night, given my current schedule). Right after that I went over to Jacques's as The Family Ghost was to have its first interview! Richard Lester, a guy we all know from around (used to be Josh's roommate back in the day) and all-around nice guy, interviewed us for his podcast Creative Differences. Probably won't be too long before it's up. His format is to just talk for around 30 minutes and not edit it or anything fancy like that so I doubt there's too much to delay its going up. I'm sure I'll let you know when it is. I thought it went pretty well. The other dudes said some good stuff. I probably stuttered and babbled a bit in places but I don't think it came off as too bad. I told a couple funny jokes. And laughed before I finished telling my own joke a couple times. I guess the most on-the-spot moment was when we were asked "what is post-punk?" Also, some of the guys had a short great discussion right after we finished that articulated a few things better than when it was recording. Oh well. I thought to myself, we should remember that for future interviews (hah, in another 13 years), but then I forgot what they said. Some of us "celebrated" at Huey's afterwards. Oh yeah, and I got the latest installment of the PRF 12" series. This is volume 7. They must be kinda getting near completion of the series. I don't remember what the total number of installments is supposed to be (at most 9, maybe 7 or 8?), but it shouldn't be much more. It takes each one longer and longer to come out though.
