The Family Ghost practiced yesterday. We worked on a new thing and then we brought back an old thing we'd jammed on once and I'd since written lyrics for ("Battle Chant"). I was a little nervous about the way I sang it and was hesitant to start really singing at first, but I finally did and everyone seemed to like it. This Heat was mentioned and while I hadn't thought of them consciously when I played out how the vocals would sound in my mind, I have to concede that "Makeshift Swahili" was a driving force in my subconscious. I also didn't think I'd be able to pull off the way they were sounding in my mind, but I think I at least came pretty close. After practice Jacques, Mary Beth, and I met Paul and Shawna at the Bar-B-Q Shop and I ated too much barbecue. After that Jacques, Mary Beth, and I met Ryan at the PandH to see this band with someone I kinda know and I guess Ryan knows more and now lives in Little Rock. His band is The See. I would say they're neither good nor bad. Most of their songs have elements of good things and there were even maybe a couple songs where I liked more than I disliked. They're pretty straightforward indie somewhat informed, I guess, with an emoish sensibility. I got to bed too late and ated too much watermelon, but I'll be excited to finally make it to the gym in a little while!
