Mary Beth is now home! I picked her up from the airport last night and now the family's all together.

Now I guess I'll recap some stuff that slipped through the cracks of my last post:
The first is the the cats' reaction to my return. When I came in I caught Trudy by a window and greeted her with some pets. She was pretty tense though. When she got a break she ran off to the bedroom and hid under the bed. When I called her name she'd hiss at me somethin' fierce. She slowly warmed up. She'd biefly let me pet her now and then the next day but it'd still alternate with hisses at me. I knew she'd come around completely when she climbed between my legs in bed Friday night. She was much warmer towards me yesterday as well. Her full full recovery was after Mary Beth (her true love) came home. Not too long after my first encounter with Trudy, Horace came out from hiding behind the couch. He seemed reticent at first and just sat there and wouldn't approach me or anything. I came up to him and after like two strokes it was an immediate transformation into super-oh-my-fucking-god-needy mode. If there was any resentment or anxiety or fear or confusion it was immediately wiped out by the sense memory of what's truly important: complete and total attention with pets.

The next item was omitted from yesterday's Dramatis Personae: she is who I refer to in my mind as the bag-lady. She first introduced herself to us upon arriving at the St. Martin airport and getting ready to go through the customs line. First, her physical appearance: freakishly over-tanned. She seemed confused and very adamant about picking up her baggage. "Where do we pick up our bags?" "Do you know where we pick up our bags?" "What's this? This isn't where we pick up our bags!" We told her we had to go through customs first and she seemed confounded. Well, where should I happen to run into her again but in the line to go through customs at the Charlotte airport. She was behind me one row over in the maze. She instantly seemed familiar but I couldn't place who she was. I figured I'd seen her somewhere on the island. That level of tanness really stood out. Now, the first part of the story wouldn't necessarily be worth relating here had it not been for this fortuitous re-encounter. As soon as it started to hit me where I remembered her from she started to ask the couple next to her obsessively about where we get our bags once again. That's all.

Two more quick ones. That time we spent at that completely awesome, tiny beach all to ourselves getting pummeled by the waves and tossed all around with the sand, well, I think I hinted in my last post to the fact that I got sand everywhere. I continued wearing my swim trunks as we were just going around to beaches. Sand filled all sorts of crevices in them. One that took me a long time to notice was right in my crotch hanging below my ballsack. The weight of it made it hang down a bit so I didn't notice it until we did a lot of walking and I finally realized the reason my thighs were chaffing so bad was the relatively enormous pile of sand rubbing between them at every step. It didn't end up being quite as bad as my sunburn, but my inner thighs were in good company with those other parts of my skin. And very quickly, in the taxi ride back home from the airport, going up Airways at one point the sky was suddenly filled with fireworks. I don't know why, probably a game or something, but it was kinda neat to see. If any more fragments are unearthed in my recolletions hopefully I'll remember enough to toss 'em down in my next posts.
