last night i preordered the new Autechre album with a free download so i got to listen to it...quite different, well, like they went back to the ambientish prettiness of Amber without leaving behind the structural weirdness they've come through in recent years...overall not as good as their last several, but a few songs are definitely now some of my favorites...it's kind of soundtracky sounding...most songs don't really have percussive elements...anyway, i took Horace to the vet this morning...he's mostly fine, his glands needed expressing and they said there may have been irritation on his rectum...they also sheared off his matted fur that i'd unsuccuessfully tried to scissor off a while back...he has a semi-bare backside now...Mary Beth and i went to the library 'cuz there's a big cookbook sale...i didn't get any cookbooks, but i did get a few non-culinary samples: Rhinoceros and Other Plays by Eugène Ionesco, The Death of Artemio Cruz by Carlos Fuentes, A Friend of Kafka by Isaac Bashevis Singer, Talk: a Novel in Dialogue by Corey Mesler, A History of Mathematical Notations by Florian Cajori, Paradise by Donald Barthelme, Servants of the Map by Andrea Barrett, Homo Zapiens by Victor Pelevin, and Ghost by Alan Lightman...then off to class...i just ordered some pizza and apparently toppings got mixed up...i thought they screwed up but i looked back at my order screen and the mistakes are there...i know i picked mushrooms instead of jalapeños and diet coke instead of coke, maybe my clicking slipped or the internet did wonky things? i dunno...anyway, i should write some damn interview questions...
