the Jonathan Richman show last night was quite nice...i believe the first two times i saw him were about the exact same setlist...but this time only half of it seemed to have been shared with the other shows...there was still "Pablo Picasso" and in the little encore another Modern Lovers song to boot: "Old World" (with lyrics changed to pretty much give an opposite meaning...) and woo i'm not working today...that's quite nice...oh and gee i don't have aids or anything...'cuz i had my blood test taken two weeks and a day ago when my mouth was all fucked up and i'd keep being unable to get in touch with them 'cuz of work and phones and them being unavailable when i am so i swung by the office...of course i didn't think i did and i'm pretty such my allergic-reaction theory's probably right, but it's nice to hear from medical professionals too...so i celebrated my day off my doing a little cd shopping though not expecting to buy anything...Lastchance however had Sun Ra: Soundtrack to the Film Space is the Place so i got that and also Tristeza: En Nuestro DesafĂo...and i forgot that the library bookstore is closed on fridays...that's gay...anyway...

Not having AIDS is good. How are Tristeza? I've never actually listened to them but have been intrigued.

well, not having a point of comparison i can't say for sure, but i think i guess at least guess that it is pretty good...

Tristeza is very good...and for the most part they seem to just keep getting better and better (not counting the dip in quality that was their second album, still good but a disappointment...mostly 'cuz the songs were GREAT live and then the production sucked 'em flat...) the eps that came out between the second and third albums are especially great...i haven't gotten to listen to this newer thing, for all i know they took a nosedive, but the last full length album was very good...

I will definitely pick one up, then. Good luck on the Silkworm gig. That's exciting!

thanks...yeah...kinda weird too, traveling hundreds of miles for half the band to get up and play one song...but still...as far as Tristeza, i'd say any of their albums/eps is as good a place to start as another (except probably Dream Signals in Full Circles...i wouldn't say don't get it, but i wouldn't recommend it as a starting point...that's the disappointing second album...)

As far as the whole 'getting your name out there' thing, though, I figure this is probably a big deal. I'm really happy to see it happen, too. BTW, I had talked to Jacques about a gig together sometime in the not-too-distant future. We've got two lined up right now, but hopefully late summer/early fall will be a good time for everybody.

Thanks on the recommendations.

gigs are swell! (i must think so if i'm willing to drive 600 miles or something to play a tiny fraction of one!)
