i just early voted...i'm not typically that political but i do especially encourage fellow tennesseans to vote as the state constitutional amendment #1 is pretty "gay" (constitutionally banning gay marriage even though they're already not legal anyway...just to make 'em more VERY not legalER...) there's not much of a choice for senator or governor, but there's a representative worth voting for (i.e. a democrat that isn't "moderate" and might as well be a republican anyway...) after voting i got my oil changed and then while i was in the area i stopped by the library bookstore on impulse, obtaining: Forty Stories by Donald Barthelme, Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, Three Famous Short Novels: Spotted Horses, Old Man, The Bear by William Faulkner, Speak, Memory by Vladimir Nabokov, A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole (a book i read way back in high school but have never had my own copy...so it's nice to pick up for a dollar...), and Compound Fractured French (wacky "translations" and pictures...before i got it i thought they were read baudy translations, but now that i'm home it seems to be mostly commond french-phrases with joke translations relating to the pictures which is less funny...oh well...)

Date: 2006-10-28 09:29 pm (UTC)We actually have a really great House rep up for election this year. If you're registered in Memphis and not at your folks house you're in the 9th district... and Steve Cohen is about as left as Democrats can go. :)
