went to Jason's birthday party last night...there was fire...i just checked my mail and found another cd, The Durutti Column: The Return of The Durutti Column...i'd wanted to preorder a Wii yesterday but i don't get off work til a little late so of course they're all "sold out" of preorders...my nephew is in the hospital...i don't think they know what's wrong...i'll probably go up there later when he gets assigned a room...as for now, nothing...

each store only gets like, 25-30 wii's-- it's going to be a real mess when ps3 comes out.

i'm guessing they'll probably get more than they're able to give perorders for, but of course then it's a gamble or whatever...especially seeing as how i don't get off work til 7 pm so the day they come out i'll have quite the late start...maybe i'll see if they become available for ordering online...(but then i probably won't have it THE DAY it comes out! oh woe!)

This batch of preorders was limited to 100,000 for the whole country. Each store either got 9, 18, 30, or 36, depending on its size. Most of the stores in Memphis got 30, and they were all expecting to sell out within a few minutes. People were apparently lining up a couple of hours before the stores opened.
That's what I had planned to do; I even made up a lie to explain why I'd be two hours late getting to work on Friday. But then I changed my mind and didn't do it. The Elebits release date got pushed back, so the only launch game that I'm even gonna get is Trauma Center. I figured that wasn't worth standing in line in the cold.
I decided to wait for the online preorder through GameStop because, apparently, the ship date will be the 15th. If you pay a little extra for shipping you will still get it on the 17th, which is my plan. I'm sure there won't be any shortages, but I still want the peace of mind that comes with preordering. Just don't preorder through Amazon. You'll get free shipping and you won't pay tax, but who the fuck knows when they'll ship it. I got my pink DS Lite a week after every store was full of them. I suggest that you go to the GameStop website (if you haven't already) and sign up for their Wii updates. That way you'll know as soon as it is available for online preorder.

Yeah, all of my information came from a GameStop employee on the day before the preorder. He said that the stores are completely kept in the dark on this sort of thing until the last minute, but everything he told me came from the store manager. I think it was partly speculation based on the numbers of the PS3 preorder.
Regardless, I'm not worried about getting one come November 17th.

Cool. I thought you didn't like The Durutti Column. That may be my favorite of his.

For what it's worth, I don't think there's going to be any shortage of Wiis when they're actually released. I think the game stores are just doing the reg'lar preorder racket that they do with eveything. I hope I'm right, because we didn't preorder one.

well, i definitely not a huge fan...i've had LC and like it OKAY so i thought i should try the first one...the Martin Hannett presence isn't as large as i was hoping (as a whole the album pretty much sounds just the like the second one) but the two bonus tracks from the flexi that Martin Hannett did would have made the price of admission anyway...and the one short bonus track that he sings on ("Sleep Will Come") for some reason i thought was a REALLY good song...he sings some on the other cd but it's mixed lower and reverbed out i guess to hide his "bad" voice or whatever...but on this one song it's upfront and i like the way his flat singing mixes (or maybe doesn't mix) with the guitar...

yeah, i'm not worried about the Wii, getting one anyway...but i hope i don't miss getting it THE DAY it comes out...that's my nerdy concern...

The best bet for getting a wii, sadly, is going to be Walmart. There's a lot of confusion in the ranks at Gamestop as to why the allocated units per store are so much lower than was implied at their corporate conference last month.
