lots of practice

ateolfyesterday i got together with The Extras (Jason's band) to play some drums for 'em...i'm somewhat out of practice as i've only consistently played one song on drums for the past few years...but i'll get the hang of it or whatever...later on i went over to Jacques and Amber's (after it took me 45 minutes to find my keys)...we had some belmont...watched some mst3k...it was all fine...then i went home and ended up chatting with Mary Beth and Justin, mostly complaining about work until like 6 am...yikes...
today Jacques and i went to some record store...the goal was lastchance but they were closed for repairs! argh! (we still haven't had a chance to talk to Larry about our cd)...but we went by a few others to see if more copies had sold...none had...i was also looking for the new Sonic Youth reissue but no one has it ...at shangri la i did get Hooker/Miller/Ranaldo: Monsoon used...that's something...then The Family Ghost got together and did some practicing...we worked on two newer songs! one that we had worked on several months ago when Brad wasn't there (once when it was just me and Josh, Josh had brought in this guitar thing and i added guitar to it...then later when Brad wasn't there but Jacques was he added bass...so today we finally brought it back and added the drums...) and this other thing that Jacques had had part of the guitar part for years...i had kind of started working on part of the bass before...but there had only been a few fragments worked on here and there...now it's fully fleshed out with arrangement and everything! and it just all fell together...AND there's like 50 different parts to it! plus a different-alternating time signature at the end! they're both really good...and they're, in a way, almost opposites...the first one is probably our "darkest" song and the second is probably our most "uplifting" song...anyway, i'm really really excited about them...
