at work today i finished reading Blade Runner, a Movie by William S. Burroughs (no relation to the actual movie Blade Runner, except that i'm pretty sure it's where they got the title...i know i mentioned that before, but this is for those that don't pay so close attention to the very intersting things i say...) work was crappy and in queue at first...then i got in trs for a little bit and that was super sweet...but then i ended up back in ip...though it wasn't very busy then so i guess it wasn't too bad...uh, the end...

okay...it's based on this book called The Bladerunner by Alan E. Nourse (which is about the future and healthcare's like public and doctors are forced to practice privately underground...and so blade runners are the dudes that smuggle them their medical equipment...) and so the book in question is that basic plot done as Burroughs would do...i think it was supposed to have been for a movie to be made (it's really hard to tell though...as most of Burroughs's works have sections that read like movies...talking about camera angles and all that...) it's not written in script form, kind've like an overview for how the movie would go...it's very short...anyway, the movie Blad Runner was of course based on Philip K. Dick's great novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?...Ridley Scott wanted to have a new term for bounty hunters and someone involved in the movie came across Burroughs's movie treatment and they bought the rights to "Blade Runner" from Nourse and Burroughs...i'm pretty the book in question sure it was intended for a movie that never got made (of course i can obviously see any movie-maker being frightened by anything Burroughs gave 'em to do...non-linear plot, gay sex, everything else Burroughs...since this isn't anywhere near as outlandish as all the other "movies" that pop up in his book (i.e. containing mass orgies where young boys hang themselves while ejaculating, etc...) it leads me to believe he was actually intending for someone to make it into a real movie...
