yesterday i made a trip to target...i got Da Ali G Show: Da Compleet Second Seazon...and then i saw that they had We ♥ Katamari...i didn't realize it was out yet and do you know what? IT'S NOT OUT YET! doesn't come out til next week...so i totally scored and got it EARLY...'cuz someone at target messed up...how sweet is that!? and as i'd been meaning to get a new PS2 since mine had been a hand-me-down that was handed down because it didn't work right...it did work...just if you turned it off you had to wait a while before turning it on again 'cuz it wouldn't work immediately...well after a few months it stopped working at all...so since they had the game there i made the plunge and got me a new PS2...one of them fancy slim ones to boot...on the way back home i stopped by spin street and picked up the new deluxe edition of Sonic Youth: Goo...and they had Get a Life: Vol. 1 in the used dvds so i got that too...then Jacques came over to my place and we were gonna get to work on mixing down the record...then it turns out the Otari needed to be adjusted and calibrated and shit...it wasn't sounding quite right, not bad, but a bit muted or smushed sounding and less good than the original 16 track tape...so we spent hours and hours messing with it getting furstrated and after trying to compare minute adjustment to minute adjustment and everything sounding simultaneously better and worse than the last attempt as our brains were slowly melting...well, finally just as it was too late to keep going and we were about to resign ourselves to the fact that for some reason there was a limitation on this machine, it clicked and we got it sounding right! ah! so that made us extremely fucking happy...then we met Amber, David, Monika, and Justin at Huey's...then i split and went to the full moon club to meet Josh, Dustin, Nate, and Shefalika at some free hip hop show that was pretty bad...there were moments, like 2 i think...but it was pretty lame...after everyone left that i went over to Jacques/Amber's where everyone had been hanging out...uh...then today i mowed my grandmother's yard...as i was leaving she loaded off a bunch of books to me...they were mostly lame but there was one i have some interest in: Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow...and uh, that's about it...
p.s.
doh! how can i forget to mention that The Family Ghost has two more shows booked for the future!?: thursday october 13th and friday november 11th...watch out!

yeah...i've always been very fond of Goo...even though it's easily one of my least favorites, that's not a strong statement since i'm talking about my favorite band and i've always liked it a lot...thought it was underrated...(though coming right after Daydream Nation it's somewhat understandable...) and being the nerd i am i have most of the bonus stuff already...only a few songs i didn't have...the unreleased stuff (though i already had at least one unreleased track via bootleg) and the Beach Boys cover...what i was really surprised by is how much better the demos sound than the previously issued Goo Demos...i'd never thought the demos sounded that great and felt people only said they were so much better than the album was 'cuz the album was overproduced, but the demos just didn't sound like anything...but now with this reissue they sound surprisingly good...
