good shows
Sep. 25th, 2003 08:27 pmmonday
i went to the Enon show...accompanied by Brad, Jason, Amanda, and Jamie...the first band was called The Apes...they were god-awful...Enon was very good...i hit the merch table and bought a shirt as well as some cds:
Enon: Hocus-Pocus
Enon: Onhold
the second has the coolest packaging ever...all the cds are cased in gutted, used 5.25" floppy disks...i wish i had had that idea...bastards...
after the show a bit of unpleasantness went down...we went back to my apartment...Jamie found out about Keith and Marisa and flipped out...i hope things are getting better concerning all that...though i haven't been too involved myself...though stuff doesn't seem to be doing too good in that sector...blah we'll see i guess...
tuesday
after work i went over to Jason/Amanda's...Jamie was there...Jason had picked up a cd that had arrived for me at his work that day:
Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center 1961-1973
a bitchin' comp, if you're curious as to what its contents are exactly, the title is pretty good in doing all the description itself...
then we went to the Erase Errata show...it was kick ass...of all the shows this week, the best...the Lost Sounds were the first band to play...they were alright...i think they mostly played new stuff that i was unfamiliar with...and the sound at the show was terrible (thanks, Hi-Tone) and you couldn't discern much of what they were playing...but it didn't seem to be their best...but it was alright at any rate...Numbers were fucking great...like my ballz were stomped clear into tha fuckin' ground...then Erase Errata was even better...though it wasn't the best of the times i've seen 'em, due to the poor quality of the sound...but it still drilled my ballz clear into the floor...i really went wild at the merch table:
Erase Errata: At Crystal Palace
Numbers: Numbers Life
Paradise Island: Lines Are Infinitely Fine
Numbers: Ee-Uh!
Erase Errata: Dancing Machine : Erase Errata Remix Record
some more hanging out after that i think...more staying up later than i should have...woo...
wednesday
i had the best lunch break ever...Amanda came up to my work and brought me some indian food...my ballz were sufficiently stomped...by the uh, good eating and not rushing to manage to get fast food in the short amount of time alotted...so uh, that was super-cool...one more completely boring work story...for the last 45 min i had to go take calls in TRS (i'm always in IP...there's a difference but it's boring work crap that i don't even care about myself...) it sucked and i barely had a grip on what i was doing...i was happy when i went home...
after work was the fuckin' Carrot Top show at the Fair...i met Jamie, Ben, Matt, Cassandra, and James up there...Ben had scored tickets they were giving away for the special "vip" section in the front...so we were like second row and shit!!! the first hour of it was so fucking great...i was yelling at him the whole time...and i was on a roll too...which is a shame that an hour into it the guy sitting in front of us turned around and told us to shut up or whatever...fuckin' pussy! it's not like he actual PAID for the show! (save $5 fair admission) whiny bitch...and I'M the true Carrot Top fan, i was even wearing my Carrot Top shirt...asshole...so after that the painfulness of Carrot Top's comedic stylings set in...and it was amplified by the fact that it was almost the same exact show as when i saw him at the casino months before (save for minor details)...so after i "couldn't" yell anymore it completely lost any entertainment value (which is a shame, 'cuz it was extremely entertaining up to that point...) at one point he responded to one of my heckles somewhat...he told a fill-in-the-blank joke (i forgot which exactly) having to do with the fair and having been one of several jokes dealing with the casino a few months ago but with "fair" filling in the blank this time...so i yelled something to the effect of "you said that at the casinos!" and he said (looking out into the crowd) "casinos? yeah, Tunica!" or something...my best though, durring his David Copperfield bit, a roadie blew out some confetti or something and he was like "that's it?" ('cuz not much was blown about) and then something about how David Copperfield wouldn't have to put up with something like that to which i yelled "David Copperfield is funnier than you are!" my proudest moment...
well, then when i was finally bored i went to Amanda's...Brad was there too...we went to the Songs: Ohia show...the first two bands were pretty bad...(and this being the least good of the three shows this week, it was the only one that had good sound...) i didn't catch who the first band was but they were atrocious...the second was called The Glass...they were bad, but at least had a few songs that transformed to not-too-bad for the endings...Songs: Ohia was alright...not exactly great or anything, but decent...i didn't get any merchandise at that show...afterwards there was a little more hanging out and once again i didn't get enough sleep...
today
uh...there was a meeting thing so i got to be away from working for a while...it was a sort of feedback session...though i didn't really have anything to say and let everyone else do the talking...i got my car towed...i'm guessing it should be fixed tomorrow...that should be swell...it seems like now there might be some sucky shit going down with some friends...but i guess i'll wait 'til know more details before i speak of it...
