Blade Runners
Feb. 16th, 2020 10:09 amMary Beth and I went to the drive-in last night. Was a little worried about the cold beforehand, but the weather was much less cold yesterday (though it hadn't caught up inside our apartment). I mean, it wasn't warm, but it was just a nice cool. We still bundled up so we were pretty comfortable sitting in our car through the night. The double feature was for both Blade Runner movies and it was pretty cool to see them back-to-back. I hadn't seen the original in a while. I think this viewing made me like it a little more (though I still don't revere it as highly as the consensus, though I do like it). Hadn't seen Blade Runner 2049 since I saw it when it was out in the theater, which I guess wasn't THAT long ago (at least in my own terms of cultural consumption). I still enjoyed it. Seeing it so close to the original, I was able to catch a bunch of little nods to it that I hadn't the first time. I also appreciated more how it's a vision of the future extended from the fictional universe of Blade Runner's 80s vision of the future (and the layers of going back and interpolating a current vision of the future extended from there and grafted on top of it). Anyway, fun drive-in times. It was over by midnight and so we were able to get home not too shabbily for a new day, which is today. Oh, also yesterday I finished making all the generic cover art for a physical release series of cdrs for my longer stuff that's on bandcamp. I made a generic template and have finished plugging in all of the stuff. I still need to make art for the discs, I don't anticipate that should be too much trouble. But I have the start of "The Electronic Music Archival Series Vol. No."s...
