Last night I worked on music for a little bit. I also finished reading Endymion by Dan Simmons. It feels like the first time in a while I've read some meat and potatoes genre fiction. There were definitely things I liked about it. It has a very strong beginning (and pretty strong ending). For the most part, literary style isn't its aim, but the writing is refreshingly not bad (and very good in the beginning, as I just said). The conceit of the framing doesn't jive at all with the writing style (and mostly disappears except in the beginning, end, and maybe a couple times in the middle). At times it can maybe go on, but the writing is never bad, which is refreshing. Mary Beth had ordered some new shoes for me (as I tend to wear mine til the very end, and most weren't quite there yet but, uh, I guess past what most people deem acceptable) with the new colors: dark, crimson red, purple, blue, and grey (oh, and of course Chuck Taylors). New shoes are nice. My mom just had her last chemo treatment so that's good! That's about it except for something I forgot to share yesterday. Paul put out that compilation where artists recorded a piece without any auditory or visual input (no seeing or hearing!). There's only three of us so far, but it's still in open submissions. Here's my contribution:
