Narcolepsy

Picked up Nate last night to go to the show. Stopped by his house so I got to see Patty and Jo Jo for a minute! We went up to Beach House to see Calvin Johnston perform as Dub Narcotic. His show was pretty fucking atrocious. He mostly just sang and danced along to pre-recorded electronic music (kinda reggae sometimes, kinda dancehall, kinda hip hop, usually cheesy, occasionally with some good sounds, but not often). His banter was mostly pretty funny. But the musical content of the show was not good. The first act was along a similar line with people singing along to pre-recorded music. They were more cheesy 80s casio sounds. They weren't good either. I ran into Amy at the show. After the Dub Narcotic set. She asked what I thought and started off softly with a tentative "it wasn't for me" and then I expressed my dislike she was more emphatically "I know!" The last was Kelley's band Crystal Shrine. They played a lot of the songs I'd seen her play by herself, they sounded good with a band backing them. I think her bass player (someone I've seen play in other bands) is "Mr." Duckworth's son (I don't think I heard "Coltrane Duckworth" right and I don't think there are TOO MANY other people with that name...). The show got out relatively early so that's nice. Now I'm home after a day and hoo-ruh.
