Crazy windy yesterday. I had the first Memphis Concrète planning session yesterday. Amy and Luís were there (three other people who will be involved weren't able to make it). We met at Muddy's and it was very crowded and full. First we had to get a table outside and the wind, as I mentioned earlier, was insane, knocking stuff over and feeling a good bit like a storm. Amy found a table inside. We had a good discussion and have lots of ideas and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I enjoyed hearing a lot of the ideas that I had coming from them too (plus new ideas, of course!), so I feel things should be off to a pretty good start. After that I went out to the hardware store in Bartlett where I get my eurorack screws from. I luckily made it right before they close because they're now in winter hours (a printed piece of paper on the door telling me they close an hour earlier than alluded to anywhere else). But I was able to get some screws for my case that are just a little bit longer so that they can fit this wooden module that's slightly thicker than my other modules. So back home and yes they worked and I was able to screw the Knit Rider in. And I was playing with it and I think I'm going to be very very happy with it. It's pretty awesome and pretty easy to get complex beats. And then I messed around more and figured things out like how to get sub-divisions (eight notes) and how you can give different lengths to each of the voices so you can get complex polyrhythms (something I'm always after)! There's only one very major minor thing: one of the voices just does not work. There are six voices (A-F) and voice D will not trigger anything. They each have led lights that blink when the pattern is triggered and its light works and blinks when it's supposed to but nothing I hook it up to ever gets triggered (and of course I've tried switching cables and switching destinations and always the constant factor is voice D just doesn't work). I emailed the store I bought it from as well as the manufacturer and I have no doubt that it'll get fixed or replaced or whatever since it's new, but that probably means I have to send it in to one or the other and then I have to wait to really have it! I'm excited about playing with it now! Oh well. Tried to order some pizza last night and Little Italy's power got knocked out by the storm so no pizza, but I went and picked up some sandwiches from Kwik Chek and that was good. Talked to Javi for a little bit. Now it's today and okay.
