So my Halloween night was spent on a damn deployment call. Ended up being a lot more convoluted than expected. The guy who was scheduled to do the actual deployment didn't end up having credentials to get onto the servers so we got stuck and then he ended up tracking down someone else who did have the credentials. But neither of them had done this before so it was a bit of a process. Then there was some trouble with a couple of the servers. The last one (when we're like, ooh almost done) ended up taking a whole hours. It was three hours altogether. Blugh. Kinda ended up being helpful as I was able to utilize that time to better get to the Indie Memphis screening last night. I also went in early yesterday so I was able to stay up a bit and watched Night of the Living Dead (which, yes, somehow I've managed to never even fucking see! but glad to finally watch it!). So yeah yesterday I went in late and left early. Mary Beth and I went downtown for the opening night of this year's Indie Memphis. The movie was The Invaders and it's a documentary about the militant black power group of the same name here in Memphis back during the 60s and 70s. Didn't know anything about them so it was very illuminating. The story's pretty similar to the Black Panthers and similar groups. There's also a direct tie-in with Dr. King and his assassination. But yeah it was really good. And afterwards there was a q&a with a lot of the members. We followed that up by going to the Hi-Tone to see the air sex tour thing again. I'm thinking last time it was on weekend maybe as it was crowded and overfilled the small room, but this year they were in the big room and it was pretty sparse. Only four people from the crowd ended up doing any air sex (air humping), but it was kinda fun in the intimate sort of setting. The last two people were reluctant to come up (one of 'em ended up winning though) and the guy who runs it did have to do a little bit of begging and the judges had to do a little bit of peer prodding. Okay so work today. We had Hackathon presentations so I guess soon we'll know who won. Gadzooks. What else? That's about it for now, methinks.
