So I went out to Stewart Brothers and I was able to get the screws I needed for my eurorack. It's a shame they moved away otherwise I'd give 'em business more instead of the box stores nearby. Their screws are so neatly organized and drawered and labeled by size. Very nice. I also tried to sell some cds at Spin Street (some of the crummier ones I've bought in the past year or so). Well it was two out of three, one of 'em wasn't in their system. Anyway, I picked up a few used ones myself: Yo La Tengo: Fade, John Coltrane: Soultrane, and Terminator X and the Godfathers of Threatt: Super Bad. After that I went to Goner to try to sell the last cd. I got to feel old and uncool 'cuz I was told they don't even take cds anymore and on orders to do as little with cds as possible. Well, I did buy a few. I picked up on in their dwindling cd area: Pharoah Sanders: Black Unity. I also got a few that I knew they'd have 'cuz they're on their damn record label (which was my other motive for going there): Nots: We Are Nots and Nots: Cosmetic. In the evening Mary Beth and I continued our movie marathon. We watched Shock and The Fly. Neither of us had seen Shock before (though I've had its excellent soundtrack for some years). It was okay, not great but there were some interesting things about it, especially the dream sequence type stuff. I hadn't seen The Fly in forever so it was nice to revisit it.

Today at work was pretty good. We were encouraged to wear costumes so I wore my costume. Some people got it! Some people had to have it explained. I also brought my prop (the elaborate carpet piece that Mary Beth constructed). I didn't win the contest, that went to a mad scientist and a pirate (I guess I was a little too specific for the judges). My scrummaster was very adamant on the fact that I was robbed and should have won (though the reason was the effort that went into my prop which was all Mary Beth's doing anyway). Zack also dressed up as Michael Cera in Juno (though he didn't wear the shorts to work, with good reason). I came home to a few cds in the mail: Oval: Popp and Xiu Xiu: Plays the Music of Twin Peaks. Oh yeah, and I'm home now 'cuz we got off work early for Halloween! Yay!

Another neglected to mention: Saturday Mary Beth and I got some pumpkins and carved them! Unfortunately, I found that mine had a rotting spot in the back too late. But hopefully it's okay. I cut that part out. I just carved my usual jagged jack-o-lantern. I was stupid this time though 'cuz I didn't do what I've done before. I carved it before I scooped it out. That made the scooping much harder and I'm pretty sure the process was much worse for the state of the pumpkin. Oh well. It's okay I guess. And doesn't have to last long.
