May. 9th, 2016 07:59 pmOn Saturday Mary Beth and I went and picked up some more of Horace's hydration bags from the vet. Errands. We went up to Overton Park later in the afternoon. The Brooks was having its centennial and somewhat reopening of some of its interior (they've been redoing it for months and it's mostly been closed). The layout's a bit different, they've taken out quite a few walls. Not all of the art's back up but a good bit is. After that we went for a walk through the forest. We went by an art exhibit at Crosstown briefly. At night we ended up watching Entertainment. It had Neil Hamburger, a bleak existential tone, and pretty great cinematography. Somehow the sum didn't seem quite as great as its parts should have allowed, but maybe it was just 'cuz I was a bit tired. Still really good overall.
On Saturday The Family Ghost practiced without Ryan. We did a couple more new things. I thought the ambient piece we had done last week wasn't as ambient as the "guide" track (sent by the guy who wants us to do this soundtrack) so we put something else together. And then Jacques had this John Carpenterish thing he wanted to do so we did something with that. It was funny 'cuz he could not keep his own pattern straight and when we did a rehearsal recording he somehow managed to play it in like 15/16 time or whatever you call it when it's missing half a beat, for at least most of it. Mary Beth and I met my family for mothers day up at Soul Fish. Later we went for another walk in Overton Park. It seemed like it might rain, but it held off. We tried out Loflin Yard and it was pretty cool. I like the waterfall and old industrial stream that runs through it. After work today I met Paul Maceri and Jacques up at Josh's to go over logistics for the upcoming show. (Crosstown, May 26th, should be pretty exciting). Anyway, that's about it for now.
