Music and Other Things
Jan. 31st, 2016 05:47 pmForgot to mention in my last about about how we were almost late for the Star Trek concert. Mary Beth had the time in several places as starting at 8. Well, it started at 7:30 (our ticket said that too, but that's not where we were looking). Well, we walked in the door RIGHT before 7:30. At first I wondered why the lobby was so empty and figured it just wasn't gonna be super popular. Then I noticed the seats were all full as we sat. Then it started just a couple minutes later. I was going to go to the bathroom first but ended up just holding it til the intermission. Bathroom talk! Exciting!
Okay, moving on. Yesterday I wrote and recorded a couple more songs for the Bernie podcast. After playing some people my main theme, I got worried it was too overblown and recorded a similar but different piece with far scaled-down instrumentation. It was actually pretty nice. And this way there's at least options. I also recorded another kinda interstitial music sorta thingie. I was pretty proud of it. I'll probably put all this junk up on soundcloud or whatever.
Got up early this morning to get ready for early band practice. The dudes came over and The Family Ghost had our first practice in a good while. And our first for the Bands for Bernie show! We picked three songs that fit nicely into thirty minutes. We were sounding pretty good, so that's something. Afterwards most of us went and ate at Tops. I keep thinking next time I go I should retry their barbecue (haven't had it in a very long time) to give it another shot since their hamburgers are so good. I don't expect it to be as good as their burgers, but still. But going I was just in the mood for that awesome fucking cheeseburger so I ate that again. Then I had to got to the Memphis for Bernie meeting. Went downtown to Herb's place, but he didn't answer the door. So it turns out the meeting was the first somewhere else (at Sara's). I'm going to guess this was communicated in an email to the account that I can't access at the moment. Doh. Anyway, not too much else for now. For the next twenty-four plus hours I'm sure all my thoughts are gonna be directed towards the vast plains of Iowa.
