Dying

Monday night I watched The X from Outer Space. It was pretty goofy. At times pretty damn funny. The monster was pretty funny the way it flung itself around. The soundtrack was pretty awesome. The forced love story was pretty ridiculous. Okay. Then last night Mary Beth and I went to see the free advance screening of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. It definitely had that precious indie movie thing going on, but it ended up being good. Some of the cutsier elements may have been a little meh, but I mostly liked it. It started off where I wasn't sure, but then I got into it. It does almost flow like a commercial for the Criterion Collection, that may have been a little overdone but they made it work with the little movie parodies. And the Herzog impersonations (and clips) were much welcome (after the Ebert documentary I realized what a sucker I am for a good Herzog impersonation). The soundtrack was also littered with Eno songs (first and third albums) but then it turned out he'd also scored the original music for the film as well. And I'm a sap, I was almost bawling towards the end. Even today, "The Big Ship" was playing during the big climactic scene and it was getting in my head today and just hearing it in my head I'd start almsot getting misty eyed. Kinda started to pass out again today after work, but I made myself get out there and jog anyway. I was worried 'cuz it was pretty hot, but in the time I'd let elapse since arriving home it was a little cooler (or not so hot anyway with the sun starting to get slanty and all). I guess that's it.
