After work on Saturday I went over to what used to be the Poplar Lounge and is now called [shudder] Rock House Live (it's even a fuckin' chain). Foxglove (Ryan's and now Paul's other band) had already paid and the bouncer dude seemed pretty dickish. So I waited outside for others to come out. Mary Beth and Paul and Josh and Jacques. We chatted a while then went over to Huey's and ate and chatted some more. The next morning The Family Ghost had practice, so I was a little underslept (but fine). We were pretty darn good. Before Ryan showed up, I did more practicing on drums and played along to most stuff. I even drew blood during the end of "Lost Year." Rock and roll. Then we went through our set and it was pretty good. We fucking killed "Battle Chant." It was like my best ever screaming. It was also a little fast and we were ripping that shit up, yo. Then I went to work. We apparently have a show booked for December 19th (a Friday) at the Hi-Tone's little stage. That's our record release party! More word on who else is playing with us later as that develops.
Justin is in town so I went and had lunch with him yesterday. Did a lot of catching up. Got to see his little baby Izzy (Isabella). Three months old. And no, he's not married. He does have a girlfriend but they haven't tied the knot or anything. So I've no need to be offended or anything. But it was really good catching up. And we did a lot of it. His parents don't live in town anymore. Pretty crazy that a lot has changed for both of us. It's weird. One of the first things he said to me was "you're huge" but then he qualified that he didn't mean it in a bad way but was talking about muscles and if I had been lifting weights. Weird 'cuz it's been well over a year since I've been to the gym. I mean, I was doing it for a while. And around my shoulders I do still feel some residual muscle, but I guess it's been so long since he's seen me? I dunno. Maybe he did mean fat and then said the other stuff to cover up. Whatever.
Very little else. Just took Mary Beth's car out and put air in the tires. That is the very exciting stuff you need to be reading about. Been hard to get out of bed for some reason lately. I can understand yesterday, catching up and all from the day before. But not sure why for today.
