Sleep All Day
Jan. 11th, 2013 06:57 pmUgh, catching up. First there was recording last Saturday. We wrapped up Jacques and Paul's picked parts at the end of "Doctorate," added a couple drum hits from Ryan at the beginning, I tossed on some minimal modular synth that Jacques isn't crazy about. We started recording "Lost Year." We got it down as a band, then Ryan doubled up some of his guitar and added on his solo thingie. Paul, left, Ryan slept on the spare bed, and Jacques got to recording his vocals on both songs. We also did some extra distortion through the Plague Bearer on the distortion parts. Anyway, we were up pretty late with it all. I had woken up with a little cough and the seed of this sickness which has haunted me all week. Sunday I was able to drag myself out of bed to go to brunch with Mary Beth, knew I wouldn't make it to the gym the night before, but then ended up sleeping literally 20 hours of the day. I was just fucking out of it. In a moment of wakedness at night I called a coworker about getting some stuff to her because I might have to call in, but when I woke up at 2 or 3 or whatever I was feeling better and decided to go in. My fatal mistake was taking Day Quil because the decongestant made my nose drip all day even though it wasn't stuffed up. So I rubbed it the fuck raw. It's almost healed up today, but there's still a bit of scab right at my nostril. Much of the rest of the week, outside of work, was spent in bed. Definitely up to Wednesday. I was gradually feeling better each day. I did have some big work stuff due Thursday so was up a bit working on that (the only night underslept), though I did spent most of the time in bed. Tuesday and Wednesday the kids likened my nose to Rudolph's. I'm constantly told I should take off and go home, so of course that was amplified this week. Today there was a pep rally thing for the basketball homecoming in the auditorium and it was hot as hell. The worst things now are the sores/bumps on my tongue (which I don't know if are related) and the damn cough which persists. It does feel like it's all loosened up in there, but still. Anyway, it's Friday. While picking up Mary Beth's computer from getting fixed we had some Five Guys. I am ready for this motherfucking weekend.
