Did the gym on Sunday and then afterwards Jacques came over and we tried to mostly finish the stuff that was left with my bass and his guitar. We first did his guitar. Did some correction overdubbing to one part. He added a picked layer underneath his strumming part (which he later realized he played wrong so has to be redone anyway). We also added a couple chords di'ed in to smooth it out. We did my bass. Didn't originally add the fast part because I knew the tone should be a bit different so we did that. Also, where I chord at the end was really muddy the way it was recorded, so we added a track of that recorded differently. We also did the effect drone thing at the beginning. I spent some time doing some extra patchwork in collaboration with the modular and it sounds really nice. That may be my favorite part of the whole recording so far.
Let's see then there was New Year's Eve. I actually woke up a bit sick. Went back to sleep. Was feeling off most of the day, out of it. Didn't do too much but be lazy and after napping, watching tv. Mary Beth and I went out and made good on our reservations at Acre. It was really good. Then I stayed up just long enough to ring in the new year with the digital antenna's channel scan. I felt much better on New Year's day. Too unfortunate that it was the last day of my break. Mary Beth and I went over to Josh and Molly's and I was able to give him his present (which was late due to me being stupid). We also played some ping pong. Josh had learned this backhand move in the meantime and was beating me much more with these crappy-ass hits that just barely popped over the net.
Wednesday it was back to work. I just could not get the fuck to sleep Tuesday night. I guess nerves and shit and dreading going back after feeling so nice during the nice and long break. It wasn't so bad but I was pretty underslept. I passed out after work and did a good bit of catching up and felt much better yesterday. Went to the gym after work and mostly did pretty good. My cardio was awful because my wrist started hurting when I gripped the eliptical's bar and was moving fast so I couldn't move my arms and couldn't go fast at all. Anyway, then there was today. I mostly just had a game planned, then I forgot to bring the fucking bag of dice! I had all the other shit, even pennies with tape on 'em for playing pieces. First period was a complete bust. I improvised by getting a dice simulation website up on the computers, but I know going back and forth for each dice roll was a bit much and the kids didn't hold their interest in the game. My last two classes were so rowdy I cancelled it and made 'em work problems instead. The big deal today was the big pep rally honoring the football team and the max preps website that's honoring our school in conjunction with the national guard, but the kids apparently acted up during lunch so only the seniors and those involved in the appropriate organizations were allowed to go. So, not only did my dreams of class ending earlier fall flat, I had to stay with seventh period even LONGER.
After work Mary Beth and I went to Macy's and I got a new pillow. Mine had been on the outs for a while. It used to be great but it's really old and now kinda lumpy and hard and formless. So far my new fancy pillow seems pretty awesome. Got my oil changed. We also tried this new barbecue place called One and Only where CK Rockets used to be. The smoked sausage plate was really really good.
Oh shit. I forgot about the best part of the week! I got my first Christmas present from a student! It was two pairs of socks. Pretty nice ones. One pair is argyle. But it gives me so much joy that a student actually got me something. I was touched in a completely dorky way. And on the subject of students and presents, my made fun of me for getting board games for Christmas. They don't know nothin'. One also said I was really boring when I said that ice skating and ping pong over the break were "exciting."
