ateolf: (the goat...BITCH!)
Friday night I finished reading The Review of Contemporary Fiction Summer 2011 | Vol. XXXI: Gilbert Sorrentino and Mulligan Stew. I hope I eventually get caught up. Mary Beth and I started house/dog sitting for Josh and Molly yesterday. So in the morning we were off to feed and let Stella out. Paul and Jacques came over to load gear and stuff to Paul's place as we were gonna play a little bit at Paul's birthday party. We brought stuff over and set up and stuff. Then Jacques and Mary Beth and I went and had vietnamese at Pho Saigon. Hadn't been there in a long time and it was good. We got a text from Ryan that he was too sick to make it out tonight. Since our stuff was already carted over to Paul's and set up we scrapped together plans for what we'd play. This does bring up concerns about Ryan's well-being. Anyway, over to Paul's. After some people started showing up we started to annoy them. It was fun. Mostly we played what we could best get away with without Ryan. On some songs we traded off on drums. Here and there we left the drums off. We also played songs that Ryan doesn't play drums on. Off the top of my head, we played "Fall Behind," "Death Blow," "Lost Year," "Like Clockwork," "Doctorate," "Battle Chant," and "Our Secret" (that Comsat Angels cover). We didn't plan it out beforehand, just kinda play something and "what do we do next?". Even had Ryan been there, the whole setup was to be a kind of loose "practice" in front of people anyway. It was fun, but playing music is always fun. I played drums on "Death Blow" and "Our Secret" for the first times ever. Then there was today. Gym and so on. More letting Stella out. I need to do some grading.
