woo! a day off! i've happily been celebrating it with a trip to their library...they happen to be having their big friends of the library book sale which i hadn't been to in years...paperbacks are 50 cents, so i got a bunch of stuff and didn't spend a lot either! i may go back tomorrow, as the last time i went it was at the end and in trying to get rid of everything it became something like $10 for a paper sack full of books...so i just crammed stuff in without regard 'cuz it was technically free...but it was nice to go early while the good books were still there (in theory) and on a day i normally wouldn't be able to make it because of work! so, to end the suspense: Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner, Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut, Victory by Joseph Conrad, Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann, The Pearl by John Steinbeck, Candide by Voltaire, King Harald's Saga by Snorri Sturluson, The Aeneid by Virgil, A Handbook for Visitors from Outer Space by Kathryn Kramer, A Boy's Own Story by Edmund White, Il Barone Rampante by Italo Calvino (yeah, in italian, i can't read this, but it looks cool...maybe if i relearn spanish i'll be able to stumble through it?), Cathedral by Raymond Carver, The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, The Immoralist by André Gide, A Treasury of Modern Asian Stories, Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins, El Príncipe Encantado by Jennifer Greene, Poesías Líricas - El Estudiante de Salamanca, Mariana Pineda - Doña Rosita la Soltera o el Lenguaje de las Flores by Federico García Lorca, Historia de la Novela Hispanoamericana, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard, and Journey to the End of the Night by Louis-Ferdinand Céline (okay, i already have this, but is an older version with a really cool cover (though the one i have has a cool cover too, gadzooks!) remember: 50 cents! after leaving i decided i may give it to someone...) well, the regular library bookstore happened to be open so i walked over there in my book-buying mode...not AS cheap but still very cheap: The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg, The History of Danish Dreams by Peter Høeg, and The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams...okay, i know i said i was through with book-buying for a while, but c'mon! 50 cent books...the possibility of a paper sack full of books...you can't argue with that...i'm by no means financially hampered becaues of this...anyway...
