ateolf: (METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
last night i went with Jacques and Amber to see that dude who talked to us after our show to see his band...first off was Organ Thief who i'd heard on myspace before...and they were as i expected having heard them (horrible)...then was the Juan Profit Organization...a bunch of theatre fags (or so i'd presume) they all dressed up in tuxes (and a dress for the female) and they played mostly concert band type instruments...one guy went back and forth between clarinet and trumpet, the girl played violin, there was a drummer and they often played bass and guitar, sometimes piano on the keyboard and one song had vibraphone...seeing all of this stuff we were hopeful that they'd actually be good, but they were terrible...trying to be quirky, playing like cookie-cutter movie-jazz, movie-rockabilly, badly done classical-ish stuff...and the singing, ugh...mostly three at a time and they'd do annoying voices...being all "theatrical"...before their trilogy on guy (the most pompous theatre-looking of the bunch) asked if there were any blue collar workers in the audience...then he proclaimed his "fascination" with the working class...so began their trilogy, part 1. the application process, part 2. working at a factory, part 3. getting fired due to a surprise drug test and getting a job as a trucker...then was the band we came to see: Simon...well, that also was absolutely terrible...i would guess that those guys are sad the 90s have passed...they were all "irreverent" and the singer (the guy who said he liked us two nights prior) did a good bit of singing in goofy voices and when he wasn't he was still saying just stupid crap...they did a few covers where the music did not resemble the song being covered in the slightest, only the lyrics, "Sixteen Tons," "Anarchy in the U.K.," and Jacques later mentioned a Jim Croce or Joe Cocker song or some dude whose last names begin with J. C. but i didn't recognize it at the time so i'm not sure what song it was...they had one song about pimps and hoes...who knows, it could have been a "cover" of 3-6 Mafia song or something anyway...they'd have stops and he'd just say something stupid, one song it was "fuck you!" and other unfunny juvenilia...musically they reminded me a lot of Soundgarden (though without the shrieking...) and the whole novelty side of 90s "alternative" radio...radio rock leaning a little on the metal side...it was REALLY difficult to decide which bands were the worst last night...i think i could probably sum it up that each band was progressively better, but still wretchedly godawful...i seriously had to hide my head in my jacket multiple times because i was so embarassed...and we may be playing a show with Organ Theif and Simon in the near future...that should at least be entertaining on some level...
