The Family Ghost show #18
Dec. 3rd, 2005 04:13 pmgot home thursday to find a couple packages! my Moogerfooger Analog Delay (104Z) and a tempo tap pedal for the Murf...so after months the pedal i've been dreaming about has finally arrived! JUST in time for the show...thankfully Mary Beth was there to catch the ups dude and sign for it...so of course i included it with the pedals i brought to the show so i played it for the first time live! there wasn't much i really did with it, mostly used it to help contribute to the feedback noise at the end of "Taken" but it was still awesome fun...so our sent went something (or exactly) like this:
A Series of False Starts
Taken
Phantom Limb
The Yellow Light
Like Clockwork

there was a decent crowd of people (especially for a thursday) because the band we played with (even though had practiced for the first time ever that very morning) are at least somewhat in with the hipster crowd...and we pulled the trick of getting there first and setting up our shit so we'd have to play first so everybody HAD to sit through our set...HAHA! i also brought my violin but the microphone set up did not work at all (for some reason the small cheap mic i was using 'cuz it ws on the only thing small enough to fit on the instrument only worked through this small sub-casio keyboard i have...it makes no sense but it's the truth...but it still didn't come through at all...but we were able to make some use of the keyboard at least...) we actually got a fairly decent response...there was one heckler who said we were playing too long so i replied that we were gonna play "too longer" (not the best comeback, i guess...) and something about getting close to a loved one and lighting some candles and something else...i forget...the best "banter" though was before our last song Jacques said something about them having "unleashed the fury" then he started to play the song, stopped, turned his amp down and said "sorry about that, the fury was too loud"...as we were unloading this guy came up to us outside and was saying how great we were...at one point he asked where we're from and was surprised when we said memphis...he's in some band that's playing tonight at the full moon club so i'll be going to that show...but overall we played pretty well, and it was a good show...i'm quite happy...i forget the name of the other band (because it's long and convoluted) but they weren't too bad...i was surprised considering some of the members...
yesterday started off pretty sweet at work...i'd been behind on sleep all week and that day was no exception (even though the show wrapped up relatively early), but i was in the trs queue for the first three hours of my shift so it was slow as hell and i got a bunch of reading done...it was awesome but then suddenly i was back in ip...oh well...after work i went with Amber to the mall to stalk that chick...first the video game store where i got: South Park: the Complete Sixth Season (i still don't have the fifth, but it was used and there so i'll fill that gap later...), and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (even though i've barely played the first one, but it came down in price by over half so might as well!)...then the girl wasn't in her store...there was this other girl that was pretty cute, but not as cute as the other girl and besides there wasn't the presumed chemistry between her and Amber (or me for that matter!)...anyway, i'm just rambling a bunch of junk...after that we stopped by spin street and i got Trojan Dub Rarities Box Set...we ate, with Jacques, at Huey's and Amber and i started and then later in the evening finished a crossword puzzle...awesome! totally living the rock star lifestyle...last night/this morning i caught back up on sleep and am feelin' fine...
