Feb. 8th, 2004 09:06 pmyou've probably already noticed that i'm still without internet access...my computer's working now but for some reason we can't get the internet to happen...hopefully Tim'll get in touch with Roadrunner soon...i could go into the details of all we've been trying to get it to work, but that'd be too boring even for my standards...
now let's see if i can remember all the other boring stuff that's been going on this past week...i'll just start off with the workplace...this week finally started to go back to normal, after a fucking month of being busy as shit...i guess the training classes finally got finished so there's more people taking calls and shit...so that was nice...i actually got to do some reading this week...woo! then friday i got some special award for being such a badass in december...i got "all star" parking, which means i get to park right in front in one of the 4 "all star" parking spaces for this month...and i got a certificate and some cake...and as a little extra bonus, as the little meething thing ended like 10 minutes before my lunch break they let me take off an extra 10 minutes...i guess it doesn't sound that exciting, but good parking is nice...
other stuff...uh...some day in the middle of the week, which i forget, Tim gave me a belated christmas present...a guitar! it's one he's had but doesn't play anymore and it fucking rules...it's kind of generic but it's old and looks super-cool...it may have been home-made, i'm not sure...it does have a dime wedges between the body and the neck, that's kind'a punkrock...it looks sort of like a cross between my SG copy and my guitar with the mirror pick guard...old, cheap, and such...but in a very good way...it defintaly looks like a "Robert guitar"...the sort of thing you could only find in a thrift store or a garage sale...but, uh, was just given to me anyway...it also looks like it could have been pieced together from other guitars...and while it has two pickups, only one works...(and for some reason, even though there's two pickup swithces...there's only one set of volume/tone knobs...) it also came with a case (which is nice as i don't actually have any cases for my guitars...) the case was definitely homemade...it's this wooden, carpet-covered monstrosity that weighs a ton...it was actually built for a different guitar but this one happens to fit in it...but it's cool, you know, 'cuz it's free...
there were also a couple of trips to Borders this week in which i bought a couple of items between them...here's all what i got:
Orchestral Manœuvres in the Dark: s/t
Orchestral Manœuvres in the Dark: Organisation
the new editions of Junky and Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, & Her Lover dvd
friday night was Jacques' birthday party...a bunch of people turned up at India Palace for some delicious, delicious food...i completely gorged myself to the point of being unable to move...which is always nice...then we gathered back at my apartment...uh, we watched a documentary about cats on the teevee...it was EXCITING! but yeah, it was a rockin' time that night...
today The Family Ghost practiced again...we started out by coming up with the start of a new song...Josh had come in with this kind of funk guitar part and i added some bass, Jacques some guitar, and Brad some drums...it's nice and funkay and a bit noisy...my bass part (at least insofar as i was going for) is sort of funk-meets-Can...but anyway...i'm ready to play...The Caravan are bastards for not emailing me back...anyway, between practice and The Simpsons i opened up my noise gate pedal which has had a problem with the input and saw that the part that makes contact with the 1/4" cord was loose so i taped it down and it works fine now...uh...i guess that's all i can think of to say...hopefully i'll be back to doing this again regularly.........what a sad, sad hope...
p.s.
earlier this week my car flooded again (not as badly as the last time...the carpet soaked up all but the tiniest bit...) also, i finally tried to take a shower in my bathroom...but as i had predicted, the water pressure was weak and it's so small there was no room to move my arms around so after about one minute i got out and continued in the uh "communal" bathroom...okay, now i think i'm done again...
