obtaining more rock
May. 8th, 2002 01:18 amlately i haven't been getting much sleep...for days i've been waking up a little before i had intended and i can't get back to sleep...so i've been all underslept lately...but oh well...this "morning" was kind of productive...i got my oil changed then went to the storge place to pay rent on the space...i also got the code to get in the gate changed (as there are now a bunch of ppl who don't practice there anymore knowing the code...not that they have the key to get in, but still...) it WAS the coolest 4-digit code ever: 0154...now it's significantly less cred-worthy, but as it's a secret password i guess that hardly matters...after that i went by Lastchance...i hadn't bought cds in weeks...:
Hood: Silent '88
The Birthday Party: Hee-Haw
The Fall: Live at the Witch Trials
Tom Waits: Blood Money
they were all new so it was a good bit of money spent but they were all very necessary so it was worth it...and i don't know how i've gone this long w/out being into The Birthday Party...dear god! Nick Cave sang really cool back then...one of the few ppl that could sing "hee-haw! hee-haw!" and actually sound cool...and as i was buying the first 3 i looked down at the counter and saw the Tom Waits album..."woah! there's a new Tom Waits album!? when did that happen?" "last week," said Ruth, "there are two new ones." !!! so i spent a minute or two trying to decide which one to get...soon i will be back there getting the other Birthday Party reissue and the other new Tom Waits...that day will rule too...
work was pretty slow today...i spent a good bit of it in the kitchen talking to Paul...one nifty thing: as i was about to take an order out Camy came up to me and gave me $20 "i just wanna thank you for bringing Brad here. if you have any more friends that are as good workers as you two just bring 'em on over." pretty cool, second day in after missing over a week of work...if some others had that happen (like Dan for instance) they'd prob'ly be fired...being on Camy's good side is pretty advantageous...well, that's true w/ any boss, but as Camy's more insane than most...i don't know what i was gonna say but yea...i went over to Brad's but i had to go home to check on the dogs, Brad came with...we kind've hung out w/ the dogs for a little bit then we went to the space to rock...no official band practice 'cuz Jacques and Paul are pussies (i don't have many friends but the two names Paul and Justin are shared by two each...wacky...), but rock IS scheduled for tomorrow night before karaoke...roll, it shall...it was another session of Brad and me making noise...he played drums the whole time again, this time i started off on some drums too...not a full kit but a few (i started off w/ one and added on...) then i picked up the trombone (my upper lip is just now starting to not be numb...) then i busted out some grooves on the glockenspiel...then back to more guitar loop madness...it didn't last too long...though i left my phone at the space...doh! i guess i'll pick it up tomorrow on the way to work...bringing the charger...
