That Fucking Power Supply
Sep. 25th, 2025 08:06 amIn the evening, I finished reading Season of Migration to the North by Tayed Salih. It was good (though I think the plot works better as the metaphor it is than in terms of the story on its own face). Then later in the evening I was working more on my set for my out-of-town show. I was working on patching in my little microphone module (which is in the case whose power supply I replaced) and I noticed it wasn't working so I figured its cable wasn't connected. So I pulled out a few modules and checked and yes, that was the issue so I plugged it in and got everything set up again. Then I turn it on and...NOTHING! I think right at first some lights in the case blinked on for a half second. But now there is no power at all coming into this case that I spent so much time on fixing up. Maybe it blew a fuse? It's hard to get a good look but I don't think the fuses on it look blown. But I could be misreading it. I'm leaving in just a few days and I don't even know if I have time to fix this if I'm even able to. There's a good chance I'm going to have to scrap everything I've been working on (and thinking about and planning) at the very last minute and throw something together with different gear. This is really frustrating and really disappointing and just an absolutely obnoxious way to go into the approach of my first real out-of-town performance!
