friday:
at one of the ATP merch tables i picked up:
v/a: All Tomorrow's Parties 1.1
The Dead C: New Electric Music (this in a thin case and seems as if they packaged/released it themselves...)
saturday:
Nikole first took us to this small record/comic store, i got some used stuff:
Iggy Pop: Sister Midnight (live from '77 w/ Bowie)
The Velvet Underground: Peel Slowly and See Disc 1 (i guess this can hold me over 'til i finally get the box set...i mean, i have all the albums + but there's stuff on the box set not on anything else, this entire disc falling into that category...strange to see it being sold by itself...)
Nikole had also burned some Three Mile Pilot cds for me (as well as having a mix tape):
Nà Vuccà Dò Lupù
Another Desert, Another Sea
Songs from an Old Town We Once Knew (2 discs)
then we went to Amoeba Music (one of the best record stores ever):
DNA: Last Live at CBGB's
The Modern Lovers: s/t
The Human League: Reproduction
Can: Monster Movie
Minutemen: Post-Mersh, Vol. 3
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone: Pocket Symphonies for Lonesome Subway Cars
that day's ATP merch table cd venture:
Destroy All Monsters: Swamp Gas (this is all packaged cool, like a toy that came from a dollar store...and it came w/ some newspaper "Swamp Gas Gazette" in the packaging...)
sunday:
back to Amoeba 'cuz David didn't have much money w/ him when we went the first time, i took it easy just getting cheap used stuff:
Six Finger Satellite: Paranormalized (they also had the promo version of this for a dollar less, but it's in one of those cardboard sleeve things and the regular version is in a jewel case, much nicer on the cd and my keeping up w/ it...)
Pell Mell: Interstate
v/a: All Tomorrow's Parties 1.0

i haven't listened to 1.0 yet, but 1.1 is definately worth getting...for SY's track alone (of, course there are other reasons as well...) and judging by the lineup of bands on 1.0, i doubt i'll be regretting my purchase of that as well...

where all'd you go in St. Louis?

1.0?

1.1?

i am not sure which one i saw...the first track was a sonic youth track though...what does the other have on it?

i need to order it.

well i did tourist stuff...like the arch..and downtown...bridges and i walked along the river.

i went to vintage vinyl..went to a few stores and coffee shops in the loop....saw the burroughs star....silly stuff. i had a great time buying records and books!

1.0 is from when Tortise curated it...it has some of the bands that played that year...1.1 is this year's LA w/ Sonic Youth, so yea, the one you almost got is definately worth getting...lessee, 1.0 has: The Sea and Cake, Prefuse 73, Broadcast, Calexico, Yo La Tengo, Rick Rizzo & Tara Key, Black Heart Procession, Tortise, Mike Ladd, Boards of Canada, Atmosphere, Cannibal Ox featuring El-P, Autechre, and Russell Haswell...

i'll bet you didn't even roll down that hill either!

peel slowly and see disc one

it's NOT too hard to see why it would be traded in after listening to it. it's a shame, because theres SO much cool pre-LP stuff that could have been included if Lou wasn't involved in the decision making. or was at least less of an ego-obsessed asshole.

how do you like 'interstate'? i've been meaning to pick up a good pell mell album.. tho i think that is one of their later ones..

yea, i do see that now that i've listened to it...but it's still cool to have...i wish i could hear that other stuff...

i've heard that album a long time ago and remember it ruling...don't remember it too well, but i've been meaning to get into Pell Mell...
