Metal Show
Jun. 23rd, 2024 10:57 amWent out to a big rock(/metal) show last night with Mary Beth. Autolith had their album release show thing at the Hi Tone, small room (though it was super packed and could just as easily have been a big room show). The Hi Tone's a/c is still out so it was hot as fuck in there. They do have some little portable cooling units set up and they actually work really well and it gets nice and cool when no one's in the room, but the effects immediately disappear when the room is filled up wall-to-wall with a crowd. Skinwraith was up first and they were pretty good, they were metal and stuff. Then it was Chora and they were pretty good, also metal but with little atmospheric bits with post-rock leanings here and there. Then it was Pressed and they were good. It was a little funny 'cuz the drummer was wearing a Helmet shirt and one of their songs started off sounding just like "Tic" (the song as a whole didn't sound like it, but the way it started off almost sounded just like it, and not a bad thing, just funny 'cuz he was wearing the shirt too...ah, my old high school Helmet nerd past has come back out just a little bit). Anyway yeah, like them! So even though it was Autolith's release show, we left before they played because it was just so hot there. It actually felt really nice outside (huge crowd of people outside between acts for the obvious reason).
