We did our Fresh Market grocery run during the day yesterday. Then at night it was back to Indie Memphis. This time with more than one movie! I started off with The Space Race, a documentary about black astronauts (and near-astronauts) at NASA. Starting with Ed Dwight (the first to enter the program for training but he didn't actually get selected as an astronaut, and there was a whole lot of politics with JFK and such all around that) and focusing a lot on then and then mainly also focusing on the three black astronauts who entered the program in 1978 and would go on to pilot the space shuttle at various times. And two of them (Guion Bluford and Fredrick Gregory) were being interviewed so you just know the other one who was featured in it but not being interviewed (Ronald McNair) was going to have been on the Challenger when it exploded (and yeah, of course that's the history of it). But it also talked about a few other things going all the way up to the present day. It even gave a little nod to afrofuturism. It was quite good. I didn't know anything at all about the history so it was pretty illuminating. Next I met back up with Mary Beth to watch The Plot against Harry and that was really good. Afterwards, on the deck at night before bed, Peanut really cuddled up on my lap with some pets (and just the next day after getting some big slashes on my thumb from her trying to pet her!). Okay, one more day of work and then some more Indie Memphis!
