Yesterday was my birthday. Didn't do a whole heck of a lot. Right after work, we tried going up to try out that Ginger's Bread place (we actually tried the day before, but they were closed for most of the week in what seemed like a summer vacation thing). Though when we got there yesterday they pretty much had just one loaf of challah left (which we got). Mary Beth gave me this comic book thing: Henry & Glenn Forever + Ever by Tom Neely & friends (it posits the question, what if Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig were lovers?). For dinner Mary Beth cooked up the ravioli we got from Lucchesi's (two kinds: benton bacon and seafood (including scallops!)). Then I went to this show that was at Glitch, newly operating for shows after many years. There've been all these storms lately and there was a big storm that afternoon and at the Glitch house (where there was a tree lying across the road around the block) the power was completely out. They did have a generator going and were putting the finishing touches on dragging extension cables to as many light sources as they could. Some guy started playing a little later. It was this kind of "jazzy" folk singer-songwriter stuff. It was a little warm given the lack of ac and I spent some time outside. But then after he finished there was no sign of any other musicians around. W1ND0W and Outside Source and someone else had been supposed to play, but I figure due to all the power issues maybe that wasn't happening. So it was kind of a bust. But not all a bust 'cuz I got to go back home and hang out with Mary Beth and we watched Maid of Salem (old 30s movie that, as you can guess, is about the witch trials and stuff). It had a good start, though the end was a bit pat. Anyway, I have some half-assed birthday plans for today so we'll see how that goes.
