Water/Color
May. 21st, 2023 11:24 amYesterday Mary Beth and I went to the Dixon to see the Zao Wou-Ki exhibit. It's mostly focused on his watercolors and ceramics (and mostly the watercolors) but there were three oils right at the front too. It was all really phenomenal. Abstract expressionist, vibrant colors (even when they were monochrome, really), and a lot of the watercolors even had bits that seemed like oil painting. I wasn't familiar with his work before, but it was an excellent exhibit. And in the local gallery, there were works by Susan Maakestad and I guess tied in to the main exhibit, they were also watercolors: abstract landscapes on small canvases and they were also really good. After that we went and had an early dinner at Las Delicias. We came home and there was a very thoughtful gift from our next door neighbor Joanna that was a stained glass ornament of a black cat sitting on a crescent moon and it was just perfect and Mary Beth was moved considerably. Then I spent the night working on the soundtrack and I even got a decent pass through recorded! Some things I could tell weren't working and abandoned and I moved some things around, I may have one or two other things that might not be working and maybe will discard, I'll see what everyone else thinks. Probably other parts could be moved around. We'll see. Overall, it's coming together a bit more. Now I finally have a decent recording to share. Anyway, I guess that's about it for now.
