Ready for Another One
Jan. 1st, 2023 12:53 pmDidn't do a whole lot yesterday. Mary Beth and I went for a walk in the late afternoon. We stepped outside and smelled a burning smell and there was a light haze of smoke about the block. We couldn't determine any source for it. Then walking down Cooper we saw a car parked on the street with its engine completely burned out (as in from literal fire) and blackened hood sticking up. We speculated that that was the cause of the smoke and the wind had blown it over towards our block. But then coming when we were almost home we saw a fire truck in front of the apartment building on the other side of Union. I didn't actually see anything that looked indicative of a fire, but we weren't actually on Union and didn't get a good look. Geographically speaking, the fire coming from there would have made more sense. Anyway, not sure which was the actual source but by then the burning smell and smoke had gone away, I think. We rang in the New Year's together in a pretty low key way, just hanging out together at home. There you have it, happy new year!
