Group Chat

Not a whole lot to report for yesterday. Mary Beth and I did our Fresh Market run during my lunch break. Then after work we took another walk. It's been pretty cold these last few days. The main thing I have to mention is something I forgot in my last post. So, sometime Monday night I got added to some "Memphis scene" group chat on instagram. Basically as it says, for people to post about shows in Memphis. Fine on the surface, but of course this is an unmoderated channel with people setting out to invite as many people as possible. I'd say it "quickly" devolved, but it was already devolved before I even got there, into just a slew of obnoxious memes (off-topic of course) and related chatter with very little even about shows, sure a flyer posted here and there but hard to keep track of through the slew of nonsense (and Kole had joined and posted a flyer and even had someone ask if they wanted them to make a better flyer for them). Anyway, I tried and probably much longer than I should have, but sometime Tuesday morning I just had to drop out. Then I was complaining to Kole about it 'cuz I knew they were on it, and like an hour later they said they dropped out too 'cuz someone was trying to sell acid. Now I wished I'd held out that hour longer for the comedy value, but man, yeah, some pretty stupid people out there. Oh, and people can be annoying! (I'm not trying to be misanthropic, really, but sometimes you're reminded of where an unmoderated group discussion can go...!) Oh yeah, it was kind of funny when the person who probably started it tried to kind of pseudo-moderate here and there and be like, hey that's enough memes remember this should be about shows and then immediately the people would post more memes. Mostly they didn't try and would occasionally say something like, yeah I know this can be annoying so just leave if you want to no hard feelings.
