Show No Show

The William Basinski concert that I'd been waiting for and bought tickets for back in January was cancelled at the last minute because his flight was cancelled and he couldn't make it here! So that's a bummer, but we carry on! I don't know if I mentioned it on here, but Memphis Concrète sort-of almost happened around the Basinski show. We got asked to do it this year this past weekend and have that show as part of it. There were some logistical hurdles and after a lot of back-and-forth (it's happening/it's not happening) it ended up not happening (the main thing was they were booked with something else Saturday and we ended up needing to find a second venue for that day and it ended up being short notice when that issue came up and we didn't find a second venue...and then Chris just left town on top of everything). Anyway, throughout I kind of didn't want to do it this year at all (but having William Basinski involved made it exciting enough to overlook that) but NOW I'm even more super-glad that it didn't happen. Well, instead I was able to go to this other show at the Hi Tone. Emily opened as The Snarling (unlike whit3corset, she's playing guitar and doing kind of indie/emo stuff). Then Brook Pridemore played. We talked a little bit about the upcoming cassette split we've got together (I also picked up the two of his previous cassette splits, not that I have much of a way to listen to them as of now). Then Droneroom closed things out.
