Well, I picked up my car yesterday but they also weren't able to fix it. They were replacing the valves or whatever but then found something with the evaporator (I don't know anything about any of this either) and they weren't able to fix that, something with either the parts or the tools needed, and they suggested I take it to the dealership. At least when I picked it up they only charged me ten bucks for the effort (less even than the diagnostic they'd originally quoted). So I tried to make an appointment somewhere else. I couldn't really find a non-dealer Kia specialist so I bit the bullet and called a dealer. They're booked up for quite a few weeks but I made an appointment for a good ways away from now (even their diagnostic was three times more than what Firestone quoted...which was five times more than the ten bucks they charged...so god knows what kind of outrageous things they'd charge for fixing it as well...I mean, it is a fucking dealership). In the meantime I figured I'd see what else I could do and called the place that's about down the street from us and asked specifically if they could do the fix for the evaporator on our Kia and they said they could. They weren't open til next Friday, so we'll see. I can do that first and at least hopefully not have to go to the goddamn dealership. Anyway, later at night Mary Beth and I watched some Gilmore Girls. That's about it for now!

That’s cheap compared to Toyota dealers. Diagnostics have risen to $200.
