To start, I got this cd in the mail yesterday: Éliane Radigue: Occam XXV. After work I finished reading Carpenter's Gothic by William Gaddis and it was great as all of his stuff is. Last night Mary Beth and I did our Kroger grocery haul. I guess that's really about it for now.

I love Radigue's stuff! So wonderfully ambient and resonant.

Where do you buy from? Do you ever do MP3s? I know you have a lot of CDs from your posts.

I'm just so disappointed that Bandcamp sold to Epic Games, and I wish there was a good alternative for digital purchases.

But yeah, do you buy from somewhere special?

Yeah, she's pretty amazing, one of my heroes and all that. I had actually preordered this cd on bandcamp. I get a good bit of stuff from there, I've always made it a point to get at least something each bandcamp Friday. Like most, I'm not thrilled with the whole bandcamp news, but I'm at least waiting until it actually starts to shit the bed before completely writing it off. I don't really listen to mp3s, due to my age (and monomania) I'm pretty fixed on cds (and I dislike vinyl). Other than bandcamp, I often get stuff from discogs (though that won't help with mp3s) and sometimes directly from labels if there's a new release I'm after. One of my favorite pastimes pre-pandemic was going to record stores when traveling, but I haven't done that lately. I guess the bandcamp Fridays and other online stuff has helped fill that void. Wish I had a great all-in-one kind of place to get stuff from, but not really, just where I can find stuff. And bandcamp's probably been the closest to an all-in-one thing, so yeah...
