Went and picked Trudy back up from the vet after work yesterday. She was a bit woozy at first but she's come around nicely and we're very happy to have her back! Mary Beth and I also went on another walk last night (they've been becoming more frequent lately). We watched some Kids in the Hall and ate some homemade ice cream. At night I finished reading He Who Searches by Luisa Valenzuela. It was really good. (I find the title interesting as the original title is Como en la guerra, both titles are apt for the book, but translation-wise not at all literally related, I can't figure out what the reason could be for the switch-up in English.)

The Spanish translated - that would be "What in the war"? Which... is interesting as a pun in English. Huh. I wonder if there's some other property with that title in English. (quick google doesn't show anything obvious, huh).

"Como" is "how" but also "as" or "like" so the title (in my limited Spanish knowledge, but this is also a pretty simple one), I'd translate as "As in war". It seems like there's an analog to our "all is fair in love and war" and maybe they didn't think it'd come across as well in English, but "as in war" makes me almost immediately think of "as in love" so, not really sure...

Ah, ok. Not sure why I was thinking Como was what... That's que, isn't it?

Yeah that's definitely a better title in English. And As in love, so in war. maybe as in war, so in love?

Translation is always a tricky topic!

Yeah, que is what. Every now and again you see some title that's on the surface completely different but usually due to something that would clearly be lost in the translation and I don't see that here...but maybe I'm missing something?
