before i forget again, i'll first mention that a few days ago i started reading Hollywood by Bukowski...that aside, yesterday i pretty much did absolutely nothing...on my way home from work today, i was getting pretty close to running out of gas so i stopped off to fill up...i happened to have decided to do so just before the Perkins exit...right where the other Turtle's (formerly known as Wherehouse) is...so, being in the area, i stopped by there too...there was some stuff that i wanted from the last time i was there but it was no more...instead i got:
The Jesus and Mary Chain: Honey's Dead
Download: Microscopic
each for $3...i wanted to spend more time looking through stuff but it was about time for Futurama to come on...i ended up being late for that anyway, but it was being pre-empted by football anyway...then i watched The Simpsons...ahhh...the simple things...also, last night i bidded on two cds...The Pop Group: Y and James Chance & the Contortions: Buy the Contortions...i lost the Pop Group cd but won the Controtions one...but there's another of it (Pop Group, of course) ending in a few days...so it's not a total loss (hopefully)...soon i must go do my number theory and my probability/queueing homeworks...yea...

i have buy the contortions. it's fucking fabulous.

do you have sonic death? theres one on ebay, but it's some german dude. i'm debating whether to bid. not an original cassette, mind you, tho that would be cool.

it's been on my to-find-and-get list forever (Buy the Contortions)...and i finally got it...actually a long time ago i saw it used for normal used cd price, before i heard them...but the way Confusion Is Next had talked about them, it sounded like their music was just standard jazz/funk...and the main thing about them was James Chance freaking out on stage...then later i got No New York...only to find out that instead of being a lesser no wave band, they're prob'ly my favorite...doh! but now i have it...well, not quite physically yet, but in spirit...

and yes...i have the Blast First cd of Sonic Death...is he selling it on cd/cassette/vinyl? and how much is it going for and all that other fun info?
From: [identity profile] ateolf.livejournal.com
weird...after i sent that i just realized that the same thing happened even longer ago w/ Sonic Death...i saw it used, but i thought it was still all easy to come across...only to realize that it's NOT...but i think it's still in print in england on Blast First...at an import price less than what i payed for Buy the Contortions at any rate...at least it was in print there when i got it like 2 years or so ago...

i have the vinyl of buy. one of my prized ones.

it's an sst cd. i guess it's going for like $5 with about a day left. unfortunately i'll be working during the final hour of it tomorrow so i think i'll skip on it for now.

amazon or cd now has it for some ridiculous price $30 or something.
From: [identity profile] ateolf.livejournal.com
i got it for about $20...i was working/sleeping for the final hours of those two auctions...i was actually thinking the reverse would happen...winning the Pop Group and losing the Contortions...or at least having gone right up to my high bid price...which it was like $10 under...you prob'ly know about the differences between SST and Blast First...that the SST version is split in two tracks and Blast First is all on one...if it doesn't go up more than $5 that'd be a darned good deal...

i have a cdr of the sst version, but you know, i'm a stupid collector now and stuff...
From: [identity profile] ateolf.livejournal.com
hah! you obviously don't care about the music!
From: [identity profile] ateolf.livejournal.com
oh...and my most prized vinyl is the Neutral version of Confusion...w/ the lyric card and all...which reminds me that i need to start looking for the first ep again (on Neutral)...being an obsessive nerd is c00l...
From: [identity profile] deadmaxi.livejournal.com
wicked.. some guy has a neutral confusion on ebay, $50 to start.

someone from work who has the first EP and prolly a whole bunch of other stuff might sell em to me, as he's moving. hopefully, he will.

no new york is actually my MOST prized record. you have the vinyl?
From: [identity profile] ateolf.livejournal.com
yea...when i got it (Confusion)(on ebay) i was shocked that it didn't go above the starting price...which was like $30, i believe...it was a while ago...

i only have a cdr of NNY...whover made it did a really good job of reproducing the cover art though...i actually didn't realize it was a cdr when i first got it...
From: [identity profile] deadmaxi.livejournal.com
yeah, i had a cdr for the longest. it was actually the most popular thing people would request when i would trade with them. hah.. rolled it myself at the radio station with a friends copy of the record.

so, yeah, i most DEFINITELY don't care about the music.. i'm such a wanker.
