Conference/Stream

Last night we had our practice run-through of the video conference for our show tomorrow night. I think things went pretty well overall. Everyone's stuff seems to be working. I spent way too much time working out my own setup to be able to do stereo. Ran into a lot of trouble with my computer and just scraping together the right assemblage of cables. Finally got something working with the stereo, but one of my connections feels a bit tenuous. I'll persevere! Also had a freakout when I was testing my streaming/conferencing connection in more depth later on after the group test. I was finding the audio quality terrible. It'd speed up, slow down, glitch all to hell. I panicked for a minute, thinking I'd have to find some other way to do the whole thing (after I'd already tested with the group!). I tried zoom and it was even worse with audio cutting out (we're using hangouts, for what it's worth). Then after trying with all other applications shut down on both computers and cutting off any video except for the one needed at the time, it performed quite a bit better. It's not perfect, as you'd expect, but it seems like it's good enough! Well, hopefully now I'll have more time to actually practice the fucking music! Now that it's the day before. We had a long town hall "meeting" and I did listen to the president talk and everything, but while doing so I did a LOT of patching on my eurorack. I wasn't listening just setting up the physical patches. Think I'm going to have some pretty cool sounds. I'll see tonight when I get a chance to actually practice!
