Yesterday I worked on a musical piece for the monthly challenge. This one was just to do something relating to the number seven. So I recorded seven tracks each with a distinct note and varied timbres (the timbres and frequencies start shifting at various points) and the whole thing last seven minutes and seventy-seven seconds (or as most people call it, eight minutes and seventeen seconds). I mostly finished the whole thing, but I deferred deciding on some final adjustments for later. I went out to a show yesterday evening, very early evening, up at the Lamplighter. Music was supposed to start at 5:30 and I arrived only a few minutes before but Nonconnah had started just a little bit early! So I missed the beginning of the set (Ben Ricketts was playing with Zachary last night) but probably only a few minutes. It was a really good set. Mars Hall was next and that was pretty terrible. He has a bunch of stuff to make the sound fuller since he's just one guy, but he didn't have a handle on his equipment at all. I mean, that wouldn't be a huge deal if the music was any good but it was pretty awful anyway. Tim iD was last and that's just Tim Prudhomme. He played just him and a guitar and his non-Fuck material is pretty silly and not very good. He did a run of some Fuck songs and they were alright. And that's about it. Not much to report from work today or anything.
