Outside Cat
Nov. 11th, 2013 05:47 pmIt's at least been a pretty full weekend. Ups and downs and more busy than not. The band practiced Saturday. It was a quiet practice, broke out the drum pads and all. But pretty productive. We worked on the songs we felt would be the most trouble and they mostly seem to be coming together. Sang the part to "Safety Corridor" for the first time live and it seems like it's there. We even did Paul's song with vocals (though temporary lyrics). I got my Barnes & Nobel Criterion sale order in the mail: The Leopard, Shock Corridor, La Notte, and Le Plaisir (with one more on preorder for the future). After practice, there was this thing that was supposed to go down at Josh's but it ended up being cancelled. Mary Beth, Jacques, Ryan, and I walked down to Kwik Chek for dinner. Then later Jacques and I went over to Paul's. Mostly just sitting around watching bad movies like Twixt (holy shit, I couldn't fathom how bad this was, I'm not expecting good to come from Coppola recently, but jesus christ...jesus fucking christ this was beyond the pale) and that Shining documentary (though I fell asleep a bit into this one). Yesterday I ended up meeting my dad, sister, and nephews for lunch. There's this cat that's been hanging around outside. Neighbors told Mary Beth the other day that the owner is off in another state for college while the boyfriend who was looking after the cats was in a car wreck or something. And there are these dogs in their apartment that howl all the time. I went over yesterday to talk to the neighbor to see what's up with the dog/dogs. Anyway, someone's been feeding and letting them out. Apparently the boyfriend is in a wheelchair and living somewhere else now. We noticed Saturday that the cat looks pretty injured. Mary Beth thought it was freezing at night but we then realized it had been acting that way 'cuz of the injuries. Well, we'd been feeding it and it's started to seem much better since yesterday. Today, after we went and got a lunchtime breakfast at Bryant's, we got him in a carrier and took her to the vet. She was very angry. After we got up there I had to go to a doctor's appointment I'd almost forgotten about it (it seems I'm fine save for gaining a bunch of weight). The cat was not very compliant with the vet (it seems she's semi-feral, she likes being around Mary Beth and I 'cuz we feed her, but she doesn't seem to like being touched and she apparently scratched the vet when she tried to examine her). She couldn't get much done, scheduled another appointment where they could sedate her. She said if she's not infected she'll probably be fine living outside and that would probably be best given her wild nature. Anyway, that brings us mostly up to speed. Still full from "breakfast" and need to do some work for the upcoming week.
