Friday, Mary Beth and I met Dustin, Courtney, Josh, Molly, Paul, and Shawna at Pho Vietnam from which we went to the Woodruff-Fontaine house for their little Halloween thing. The house was fun to look at. The ghost stuff was pretty lame (I mean, as a skeptic that tends to be a given, but there seemed to be a lot of reaching). There were two of those "ghost hunter" type crews. One did a presentation of E.V.P. (which was really lame, especially their pseudo(/non)-scientific(/b.s.) explanation of how it works). But it was a lot of fun hanging out. Saturday, The Family Ghost practiced. We worked out "Safety Corridor" as a whole band and it came together really well. We're all pretty stoked about it. We did a handheld recording and even that's just fuckin' smokin' (that sounds goofy, I know, but it's really fuckin' badass, that also sounds goofy, but it is). Ryan also worked out a part to "Cameras" and I drummed along (on practice pads as by this point we'd already pissed off the neighbors with the previous song's volume). I actually feel like it might come together with me playing at a regular speed and not fucking up. So that's nice. Oh yeah, and we have a show next month. Kinda getting ready for that (along with trying to get this damn recording finished, plan: next week lay down the base tracks for "Safety Corridor" (then we'll be done with at least all of the fondations, although revisiting it, we may need to rerecord "Cameras" again). And it's official that no one likes my cover art design. Oh well. After practice we all went to Las Delicias (including girlfriends, even Ryan's who we'd never met before. Sunday was just a day. Anyway, damn, Lou Reed. I guess I spent most of the day distracted thinking about him and The Velvet Underground. I even spent the late night when I should have been working (actually, sleeping by this point) learning "I'm Set Free." I dunno, I just felt stuck on it. Anyway, then I made it through today okay. Came home and needed to make some phone calls, but I napped and napped. Well, I should get to that grading that I didn't get to before.
